What is the Asthma Control Test?The Asthma Control Test is a questionnaire that is used to help you and I to better understand your asthma. It works by collecting your answers to 5 questions about your symptoms and inhaler use. Your answers to each question are assigned a numerical score from 1-5. These scores are totalled. Based on a large research study, we know that these scores predict how bad your asthma is at the time you answer the questions. These scores can be an early sign that your asthma is getting out of control. My patients take the Asthma Control Test, at least once a week. I use their scores to create an Asthma Action Plan. Taking the Asthma Control Test regularly will show if your Asthma Action Plan is working.
